13 Days of Halloween 13: Zombie Battle Aftermath

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!  Today is Day 13 of the 13 Days of Halloween Nail Art Series!  I decided to take a walk to celebrate the holiday and while out and about, I was approached by, what else, A ZOMBIE!  My long claws came in handy as I battled this thing with my bare hands!  And as we all know, zombies have sparkly neon green blood, which got all over my pretty holographic mani!!!!

My manicure started out as two coats of Color Club Blue Heaven (Halo Hues swatches coming soon!!!) but now they a dripping with zombie blood (China Glaze I'm With the Life Guard, It's So Easy StripeRite in black and white) and coated with Out the Door.

Funny how the zombie blood dripped in pretty, cartoonish drips, right?  HAHA!  I hope you enjoyed this as my final Halloween mani!  I figured that you've seen enough orange and black manicures, so I could do something a little different today =)  I hope you like!  Have you ever battled a zombie?!!

13 Days of Halloween 12: Cute Little Skeletons!

Hi everyone!  I hope everyone's week is starting off well.  And to all of those on the US east coast in Sandy's path...I hope you are all staying SAFE!  Here in Ohio we are experiencing what's left of the storm as she moves northwest, and it is definitely getting cold!  But the show must go on!  For Day 12 of the 13 Days of Halloween Nail Art Series I have cute little dancing skeletons for you.  How cute are these?!  These were inspired by Helen of geezleweez.blogspot.com!  I found them on pinterest, and I knew this was how I wanted to do my skeleton nails!

I started with a base of Milani High Speed Fast Dry White On The Spot.  Once dry, I did the cling wrap technique with Milani High Speed Fast Dry Jiffy Orange to add some texture.  I then used my trusty It's So Easy StripeRite black and my dotter with Milani High Speed Fast Dry Black Swift and White On the Spot to do the skeletons.  If you can do lines and dots, you can do this!!!  So cute!  Once dry, I sealed it in with Out the Door top coat.

These guys made me smile...all lined up they were just so cute!  =)  One more day of the Nail Art Series, because Halloween is TOMORROW!  What are you wearing on your nails for the big day?!  For a little more inspiration, click the icon below to see all of my Halloween posts!

13 Days of Halloween 11: Reese's Pumpkins!!

Hello everyone and happy Monday!  I hope you all had a great weekend filled with fun Halloween festivities!  Mine was super busy but great!  On Thursday, I went down to Columbus, OH and took my State Board test to get my managing nail tech license!  I passed!  So exciting!  I also went to a bachelorette party, a 5th birthday party, a bridal shower, and a pumpkin carving party!  Eventful weekend, and lots of fun!Today I have a fun manicure for you for Day 11 of the 13 Days of Halloween Nail Art Series!  I present to you, my Reese's Pumpkin mani!

Mmm nothing better than Reese's pumpkins, eggs, and trees for the various holidays!  I swear they taste even better than Reese Cups!  For this manicure, I made some cute little blobby Reese's chocolate pumpkins with my dotting tool!  Super simple.  I started out with Milani High Speed Fast Dry Jiffy Orange for my base color.  You've seen a lot of this during the nail art series because it is a great classic orange!  I then used Milani Chocolate Sprinkles to make my pumpkins, and Milani High Speed Fast Dry Yellow Whiz to do some small dots, to complete the Reese's color scheme!  I finished it off with Out the Door top coat!

These cute nails are making me hungry for my favorite Halloween candy!  What's your favorite candy this time of year?  Would you devote a manicure to it?   Have a great day everyone!!  Only a few days left till Halloween!!

13 Days of Halloween 10: Glowing Witches!

Hi everyone!  It's almost Halloween!  It's Day 10 of my 13 Days of Halloween Nail Art Series and I'm doing witch themed nails.  I wanted to attempt some free-hand creepy witch art, and decided to do a funky green glow-in-the-dark background with a monochromatic foreground!  I entered this one into the It's So Easy Halloween Nail Art Contest!

The base of this manicure, though you can't really see too much of it, is China Glaze Electric Pineapple.  I love this color...so funky.  I used a variety of green polishes to sponge on a cool gradient background: Priti NYC Slenderlady Palm, China Glaze GaGa For Green, Essie Mojito Madness, and China Glaze I'm With The Life Guard.  Once I was done with the sponging, I applied Julep Sofia to my nails!  This smoothed out the gradient nicely and added a nice glitter!  And as you all now know, Sofia glows-in-the-dark!  I then use my It's So Easy Stripe Rite black to do the details and finished it off with Out the Door top coat!

I love how this turned out!  A month or two ago I never would have attempted this sort of look, but I'm really enjoying it!  All it takes is practice and a bit of confidence!  Julep Sofia really made the manicure fun...you can see my original Sofia post [here]!  It was really hard to take a picture of, but Sofia definitely glows-in-the-dark and the design shows up!  AMAZING!!!  Here's the best I could do...

So what do you think?  Do you like my witches and glow in the dark look?  I hope you're enjoying the 13 Days of Halloween Nail Art Series so far! <3 Thanks for reading and for all of your comments!  Come back tomorrow for a super sweet mani inspired by my fav candy!!  And as always, click below to see the other Halloween nail art!

13 Days of Halloween 9 AND Not My Style Saturday: Unzipped Bloody Nails Nail Art!!

Ooooooh these are some gross Halloween nails!!  I usually wouldn't be into something like this, but I decided to give it a go and put my own spin on it!  So I set out to do a gross, bloody manicure, but I still wanted it to be shiny and 2D...no added pustules or bumpy blood or puss!  This is what I came up with...it looks like my nail plates are being unzipped and bleeding!!!  And it turns out, I LOVE these for Halloween!!

To accomplish this look, I used several red polishes to give my "bloody nail beds" some depth.  I used Milani High Speed Fast Dry Rapid Cherry to polish my nails, and then did the dry brush technique with Priti NYC Sympathie Rose and "blobbed" on a few spots of Essie Very Red.  These three reds are all similar, but together, there was a nice depth and texture.  I used the brush in the bottle of Essie Brooch the Subject to create the skin and the "tears" in the nail plate.  You could always use your striping brush to do this if you're more comfortable.  Once that had dried a bit, I used my It's So Easy Stripe Rite black to outline and add stitches.  I used a cosmetic sponge and Sympathie Rose to add some blood detail.  Once everything had dried a bit, I used Out the Door to smooth everything out! =)  I adore how gross but still sort of comical this is!

This will sound weird, but red, nude and black are gorgeous together, even in this gruesome application!  Bwahahaaa love these!  Not My Style Saturdays are definitely helping me branch out and find new things I am capable of and enjoy wearing!!  These nails are really putting me in the Halloween mood!  What do you think of these babies?!

13 Days of Halloween 8: Happy Monsters!

Happy Friday, folks!  I hope everyone has a great weekend!  It's a crazy one for me but it'll be fun!!  Today is Day 8 of the 13 Days of Halloween Nail Art Series and I am doing happy monster nails!  These nails were sort of inspired by the Ugly Doll nails done by One Nail To Rule Them All!  She does some amazing nail art!  I have a bunch of her looks on my Pinterest boards!  My little guys are more happy little monsters, than Ugly Dolls, but the general look of the manis are similar!

I started out by polishing my nails with one coat of Milani High Speed Fast Dry Black Swift.  Love this polish!  I then used my It's So Easy Stripe Rite white to create the shapes of the little monsters and then went back in with some China Glaze Summer Neons and my mid-length striping brush to add color.  I used China Glaze Life's A Beach, China Glaze I'm With The Life Guard, China Glaze Beach Cruise-R, China Glaze Flirty Tankini, and China Glaze Splish Splash.  I then used Wet N Wild Wild Shine French White and Wet N Wild Wild Shine Black Creme to add the eyes and It's So Easy Stripe Rite black to do their smiling mouths!  Out the Door sealed it all in!  So cute!

These little monsters aren't scary at all, but I still think they are super fun for this time of year!  They seriously made me smile, and the shiny black background of this mani was gorgeous!  Love it =)  Which little monster is your favorite?!?!  Check back tomorrow for a much creepier Halloween manicure!  Click below to see all of my Halloween posts!

13 Days Halloween 7: Holo Ghosts!

Hello lacquered loves!  I hope your week is going well!  Today I have ghost nails for my 13 Days of Halloween Nail Art Series post.  These little ghosts are cute and whimsical, and they are flying around in a murky sky of HOLO GOODNESS!

I started out with three coats of Layla Hologram Effect Flash Black!  So. Amazing.  You can see my review of this polish [here].  I then used Milani High Sped Fast Dry White On The Spot to create my ghosts.  I just used the brush from the bottle, so it was really simple!  I used my small dotting tool and Wet N Wild Wild Shine Black Creme to make the ghosts cute little faces!  Can't you just hear them? "BoooooooooOOoOOoOOOooo!"

I loved these little guys, and they were so simple!!  All you'd need is black and white polish and a dotting tool (or bobby pin) and you could have instant ghost nails!!  Will you try this look?!  Click the icon below to see all of my Halloween manis!

13 Days of Halloween 6: Spiders!

Hello everyone and welcome to Day 6 of my 13 Days of Halloween Nail Art Series!  Today's theme is spiders!  When I saw a mani on pinterest by JaeMarie2008, I knew I had to do something inspired by it!!  Check out her Youtube channel [here] to see some of her amazing designs!

For my take on this design, I started out with a base of China Glaze Immortal.  If you read my review for this polish, you know that I am obsessed with it!!  I was inspired by the shimmer in Immortal to do my dots in some fun witchy colors!  I used Priti NYC Climbing Blueberry and OPI Don't Talk Bach To Me, both polishes I have been obsessed with lately!  For the spider dots, I used Wet N Wild Wild Shine Black Creme, Wet N Wild Wild Shine French White, and It's So Easy Stripe Rite black!  I sealed everything in with Out the Door top coat. =)

How cute are these?!  As a biologist, it bothers me that they only have four legs each, but there was no way to do eight legs on each without making it too busy.  The shimmer in Immortal helped make this manicure super special!  I loved it!! =)  Tomorrow, I have a ghost manicure for you!!  And as always, the 13 Days of Halloween icon below will take you to all of my spooky nail art posts!  See you then =)

13 Days of Halloween 5: Candy Corn Cloud Mani!

Hello all!  Today's theme is Candy Corn Clouds!  I wanted to do something a little different from the traditional candy corn stripes, so I decided to do a cloud or ruffle mani!  This look was created and made famous by the super talented Nailside!

I did this mani all with Milani High Speed Fast Dry polishes!  They are super pigmented and bright, and exactly the shade of candy corn!  I started with a base of Milani High Speed Fast Dry Yellow Whiz and then used the polish brush to apply my clouds in first Milani High Speed Fast Dry Jiffy Orange and Milani High Speed Fast Dry White On The Spot.  I used Out the Door top coat.  Super easy and super fun!

Cloud manis are contagious...they just feel so positive and girly and fun!  I know I say this about a lot of nail art techniques, but this is so easy to do and so versatile!  Think of all of the color combos that are possible!!  Personally, I think this one is perfect for this time of year!  What do you think?  Tomorrow I've got some creepy crawly nails for you, so I'll see you then! <3

13 Days of Halloween 4: B&W Graveyard Nail Art!

Hello everyone and happy Monday!  Today is Day #4 of the 13 Days of Halloween and I am thrilled to officially share my Graveyard Scene manicure with you!  I entered this mani into iFabbo's Halloween Nail Art Contest...thanks to everyone who voted for it =)  Still waiting to hear about any winners from that, but it was really fun to see what some great nail artists came up with!

I am quite proud of this manicure!!  I completed it using a variety of techiques that I would have been terrified to even attempt a month ago.  I started with a base of NYC In A New York Minute Sidewalkers.  I love this gray...it's cheap, good quality, and it dries super quick!  I mixed Sidewalkers with Wet N Wild Wild Shine French White and Wet N Wild Black Creme to create all of the other shades of gray that you see!  I used It's So Easy Stripe Rite black to make the tree and details.  I tried to pay careful attention to shadowing and how the lighting would look with that big gorgeous moon in the sky!

And who is that misty figure far off in the distance?  EEK!  Creepy!!!!  What do you think of this manicure?  Mixing up a gray scale pallete was fun...I think I will definitely try it again in the future, and I think it was a perfect way to go for a graveyard theme!!  Thanks for reading today!

butter LONDON Scuppered Swatches and Review!

Good afternoon everyone!  I have a gorgeous holiday polish to share with you today!  This comes to us from butter LONDON, so you know I love it!  This is butter LONDON Scuppered, a copper foil packed with pink particles and small round green glitter.  Super unique and unexpected!

This is two coats with Out the Door top coat.  Application and formula were phenomenal!  I love how the pink really warms up this copper foil polish, and the green glitter adds something so different!  I love it!  This is an elegant and gorgeous polish for the holidays, and I think I'll be wearing it all Fall as well!  Also, I appologize for the slight tip wear.  I took these photos after doing two sinks full of dishes and scrubbing the bathroom...so you know this polish has some staying power!!

Overall, I adore this polish.  Both of the polishes I reviewed from the butter LONDON Holiday 2012 line were awesome, and I think I need to track down the other polishes from the collection!!  Do you have any polishes from this collection?  Which one is your favorite?!  =)

13 Days of Halloween 3: Pumpkin Glitter Mix and Jack-o-Latern!

Hello lacquered loves!  I hope you're all having a delightful and frightful weekend!  Today is Day #3 of the 13 Days of Halloween Series and I'm doing pumpkin nails!  I had been drooling over some of the Halloween indie glitters I've seen out in the blogosphere.  Money's been tight, so I couldn't really swing too many Halloween shades, but I thought...I could make something that looks sort of similar to that with the glitters I have in my collection...and my "Pumpkin Glitter Mix" was born!

To start out, I used two coats of Milani High Speed Fast Dry Jiffy Orange.  What a classic Halloween orange!!  Perfect!  For my "Pumpkin Glitter Mix" I didn't really mix anything!  I simply used one coat of Jordana GLITTERS Green Glitz and then one coat of Jordana GLITTERS Copper Blaze.  It is definitely Pumpkin-y!  I used my It's So Easy Stripe Rite black to do the jack-o-latern accent nail.  I sealed in my glittery mani wit Out the Door top coat!

I like how this looks!  I was happy to use my Jordana GLITTERS in a new way!  Do you have orange and green glitters?  Will you make your own Pumpkin Glitter Mix??  To see my original post for the Jordana GLITTERS used for this mani, click [here] and [here]!  Tomorrow we'll take a closer look at my Graveyard Scene manicure!!  See you then!
