Nicole by OPI Selena Gomez Collection Cremes and Shimmers: Swatches and Review

Good morning friends!  I asked on Facebook yesterday if you wanted to see Spring 2013 swatches now or after Christmas...there were opinions going both ways, but I think overall, the vote for "now" just barely won out!!  So today I am showing you the first part of the Nicole by OPI Selena Gomez Collection for Spring 2013!  Check back later on this afternoon for some holiday nail art!

A few notes about my opinion on Nicole by OPI...I know everyone says they can't stand the bottle.  I sort of agree, it is a very unique bottle, but it works and is nice and sturdy.  I was never crazy about the NOPI brush, as it is super wide (I think it's even wider than the regular OPI brush), but after using it a few times while swatching this collection, I actually like it!  This collection is turning me into a big Nicole by OPI fan!  I love that their shades have a tendency to be a bit bolder than regular OPI shades =)  None of the swatches in this post have top coat applied...they were all super shiny on their own!

First up, we have a bright and cheery shade, NOPI Hit The Lights.  This is a basic yellow creme with a nice pigmented formula.  Yellow polishes can be really difficult, but this one was easy to work with.  This is two coats.

NOPI Love Song is a gorgeous soft purple creme.  Amazing.  Great formula, easy to work with.  Not much to say except this is purple perfection!  Two coats.

NOPI Naturally is a baby pink creme with a subtle shimmer.  The shimmer is quite shy and isn't very visible on the nail, but in the right light, I'm sure it would come out to play!  Here, I used three coats to cover visible nail line.

NOPI Pretty In Plum is phenomenal!  I usually don't really like purple polishes, but the two purples in this collection are great!  This polish has that signature OPI shimmery glow and no brushstroke issues!  This is two easy perfect coats!

Next up is NOPI Scarlett, a shimmery bright pink glass fleck polish.  We've seen finishes similar to this in the Skyfall Collection and the Minnie Mouse Collection from last spring.  It's fun and girly and bright...a nice twist on classic pink.  Great formula.  This is two easy coats.

NOPI Selena is a peach pink creme with a super subtle shimmer.  Named after the star of this collection, this polish is special.  I don't think I have anything quite this color in my collection, and I adore this for spring!  This is three coats to cover visible nail line.

Finally, a classic pink creme, this is NOPI Spring Break!  Everyone needs a shade like this in their collection for spring! =)  This is two coats.

Overall, I like the cremes in this collection.  Many of them are quite basic, but they are classics that everyone needs in their collection!  I completely adore Pretty In Plum and Selena!  Check back tomorrow for the second half of this collection:  the glitters!!  Nicole by OPI Nail Lacquers and Nail Treatments contain no DBP, Toluene, or Formaldehyde.  The Selena Gomez Collection will be available January 2013 for $7.99 each at retailers including select Target, Walmart, CVS, K-mart, Rite Aid, ULTA, Sears, Meijer, Fred Meyer, Kroger and H-E-B locations.   Follow Nicole by OPI on Facebook [here] and check out their website [here]!

  1. The only one I feel like is a must have is Selena. Everything else I feel like I already have. I usually don't like pink but that shade is so pretty and seems so flattering.
