Ooooooh these are some gross Halloween nails!! I usually wouldn't be into something like this, but I decided to give it a go and put my own spin on it! So I set out to do a gross, bloody manicure, but I still wanted it to be shiny and 2D...no added pustules or bumpy blood or puss! This is what I came up with...it looks like my nail plates are being unzipped and bleeding!!! And it turns out, I LOVE these for Halloween!!
To accomplish this look, I used several red polishes to give my "bloody nail beds" some depth. I used Milani High Speed Fast Dry Rapid Cherry to polish my nails, and then did the dry brush technique with Priti NYC Sympathie Rose and "blobbed" on a few spots of Essie Very Red. These three reds are all similar, but together, there was a nice depth and texture. I used the brush in the bottle of Essie Brooch the Subject to create the skin and the "tears" in the nail plate. You could always use your striping brush to do this if you're more comfortable. Once that had dried a bit, I used my It's So Easy Stripe Rite black to outline and add stitches. I used a cosmetic sponge and Sympathie Rose to add some blood detail. Once everything had dried a bit, I used Out the Door to smooth everything out! =) I adore how gross but still sort of comical this is!
This will sound weird, but red, nude and black are gorgeous together, even in this gruesome application! Bwahahaaa love these! Not My Style Saturdays are definitely helping me branch out and find new things I am capable of and enjoy wearing!! These nails are really putting me in the Halloween mood! What do you think of these babies?!
