Good afternoon! Today I have the gorgeous Essie Yogaga Collection to share with you! This is Essie's take on fresh neutrals for fall...and I love what they did! According to their press release, they are "taking neutrals to a higher place." High class! High shine! Everything you'd expect from Essie. Click the Read More link below to see swatches of these six shades.
All swatches below are two coats with Out the Door top coat.
First up, we have Essie Gym Dandy. It is described by Essie as a "neutral brown with a hint of gray" which I think is quite accurate. I feel like it was difficult to capture just how brown it is with my camera...it's definitely a dusty brown, not olivey at all, even if the pictures make it look that. I think this shade would be beautiful on many skin tones.
Next up is Essie Pilates Hottie, a "subdued, pinky, taupy, lilac." If you read my blog often, you know I don't usually love purple polishes, but this one is actually quite nice. There is a deepness to this shade that was hard to explain...I think it is the "taupy-ness" that Essie mentioned in the description. If you're looking for a soft shade to wear in the colder months, this one is perfect!
Essie Spinning Again is a "nuanced, neutral brick" polish that I think is spot on for Fall! A richly pigmented burnt-redish-brown, this one could almost be a one coater!!
This is Essie Boxer Shorts, a "cool yet classic purple." It definitely walks the line between purple and periwinkle blue. It has a dusty quality, but yet is somehow quite bright! A soft sweet color.
Essie Marathin is a "fresh, universal rose." I usually wouldn't reach for a "rose" polish for fear that it would be sort of "old", but this one is youthful and fun. It reminds me of my favorite, Essie Eternal Optimist, but it is a bit bolder. My only complaint is the name...I rather it be called "Mara-curvy" =)
And finally, we have the namesake of the collection, Essie Yogaga. This is described as a "creamy, icy taupe." I love shades like this...they make gorgeous bases for all sorts of nail art! Yogaga is a bit lighter and brighter than other taupes we have seen out this season, like OPI Berlin There Done That. I think I prefer Yogaga! This one may be my favorite from the collection! =)
I love how this collection takes neutral shades we are used to seeing and adds a little something special to make them unique. Essie says "The trick is color mixology at its finest. Classic neutral base shades are awakened and transformed with subtle infusions of color." You took the words right out of my mouth, Essie!!
Formula wise, these were all nice to work with. Boxer Shorts and Marathin were a little thick, but not difficult to work with. I think Essie creme polishes usually have a great formula...they are opaque and even out nicely. My favorites in this collection would have to be Yogaga and Pilates Hottie...both shades that I wouldn't have expected to love. On the nail, they are special and calming! Which ones are your favorite? <3
